Making Chilla

  • To make chilla, make batter as described in the recipe of Besan Chilla, but make sure that the batter is slightly thick, as we have to cook the chilla thicker than usual.
  • Make 2-3 chillas according to the method given in Besan Chilla.

Note: Make the cheela thicker than usual otherwise chilla will dissolve in the curry.

  • Cut the chilla into small rectangular pieces as shown in the picture.
  • Keep the pieces aside for later use.

Making Curry

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee or oil in a pan on medium heat. When it gets hot, add cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds while stirring.
  • When the cumin starts crackling, add the onion and fry the onion and tomatoes till the onions becomes translucent and tomatoes become soft, while stirring occasionally to avoid sticking from the bottom.
  • Add water and mix well, add red chili powder, garam masala, chaat masala, ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  • Allow it to boil and stir occasionally until it thickens as per your taste.
  • Add chilla pieces and boil it for 2-3 minutes.
